Full Nutcracker And The Four Realms Trailer Is Action Packed
As summer begins to wind down, many have already begun to look ahead to the holidays. That means Christmas movies, and there's one particularly beloved Christmas story that's set for an adaptation when The Nutcracker and the Four Realms debuts this November. With the film now less than four months away, a brand new trailer has just dropped revealing some more awesome action. Check out the trailer for the film, below, to see for yourself!
Right off the bat, it's easy to see just how visually spectacular this movie looks. The sheer attention to details on the costumes and sets looks incredibly impressive, and the action is truly spectacular. More specifically, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms seems to not shy away from maintaining a dark atmosphere, with plenty of legitimately intense sword fights and battle scenes included in its story. The Nutcracker has become a classic holiday story that many families return to year after year around Christmas, but The Nutcracker and the Four Realms seems particularly faithful to the original source material in terms of how dark, ominous, and action-packed it is willing to get with its story. In fact, one specific battle sequence in a rundown circus looks almost Tim Burton-esque in tone and style, which shows just how bold Disney is willing to go with this one.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms has experienced an interesting road to the big screen over the course of its development and production. Initially directed solely by The Cider House Rules' Lasse Hallstrm, the film went through some substantial reshoots in the first half of 2018 under the direction of Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston. With both filmmakers putting their own creative stamps on the project, Disney has opted to let them share directing credits on the final cut of the movie.
Based on E.T.A. Hoffmann's beloved source material, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms tells the story of Clara, a young girl who finds herself transported to a bizarre parallel world where the Land of Sweets, Land of Flowers and Land of Snowflakes have been engulfed in chaos. Once there, she encounters a soldier named Phillip, and the two go on an adventure to the Fourth Realm where they face off against the evil Mother Ginger to restore order to the world. The film stars Interstellar actress Mackenzie Foy as Clara and features The Dark Knight's Morgan Freeman, The Fate of the Furious' Hellen Mirren and Ready Player One's Jayden Fowora-Knight in supporting roles.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will hit theaters later this year on November 2.
